Total-Immersion Japanese Language
Dear Student:
You are making the right choice to spend a fun,
fulfilling weekend immersed in Japanese.
It won’t be long before you find yourself
immersed in a Japanese-speaking world.
Over the course of the two days, you will
discover just how much you have already learned to
communicate in Japanese, as well as how quickly you can
learn even more.
You will meet new people and hopefully, discover
new things about yourself!
To make your camp experience as successful as possible,
we’d like to ask that you take this adventure seriously.
Start preparing for the camp now.
Practice speaking Japanese for extended periods
of time outside of the classroom. We have listed below the rules and guidelines of the camp. You will be selected to attend the camp based on your application and teacher recommendation. Teacher recommendations will be based on the following:

RULES of CAMP DON BOSCO: 1. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted. 2. No smoking/No drugs. 3. Do not move bunks, mattresses or gearboxes. 4. Do not tamper with fire extinguishers. 5. Deposit paper hand towels in the lavatory garbage cans only. 6. Do not adjust or attempt to start furnace. 7. No one is allowed in the kitchen area except the cook and helpers. 8. Campers will clean dormitories, classrooms, bathrooms and the cafeteria. 9. The swimming pool must be kept locked and is off limits. 10. Stay on marked trails. Do not take short cuts. 11. Observe rules of courtesy in serving and eating in the dining hall.
IMMERSION 1. Speak in Japanese only at all times 2. Be on time & ready to begin when classes begin 3. Be polite and respectful towards teachers & classmates 4. Respect all camp and personal property

Participate fully DISCIPLINE POLICY: Speaking other than Japanese: STEP #2: Conference with director & teacher, punishment to be decided STEP #3: Expulsion from camp Immediate expulsion from camp (we will adhere with the Zero Tolerance Rule): · skipping of classes · weapons brought to camp · threatening physical abuse · fighting · use of alcohol/drugs/smoking · going beyond camp boundaries WHAT TO BRING: ü sleeping bag and pillow ü warm clothes, including comfortable shoes (appropriate for physical activities) and rain gear ü extra pair of shoes or socks ü personal items, including soap and towel ü flashlight ü Japanese language dictionary, pen, pencil, paper or small notebook
